I wonder if it’s also a cultural thing for those older ladies? The ‘70s were more of a let-it-all-hang-out time generally (I was there; public bralessness was common, and casual locker room nudity was the norm, at least where I was).

Yeah, I’ve been on that slippery slope with booze, you build up that denial momentum and you start going downhill fast. Take care of yourself.
You can do it. Please do it.
Which Eels song? I must not be enough of a fan bc the only one I can think of that isn’t about beautiful misery is “I Like Birds.”
Was going to say ferns but now that I can see the detail all I can say for sure is I WANT THAT DRESS. I’m not a sample size tho ):
The Mississippi area might not be too bad - the MAX yellow line goes through there to Portland State, no changing trains. But you’re probably right, if you have a year before school would start probably best to just get up here and get settled! Also, you probably already know this, but we are set up well here for bike…
There is “action” in NE as well. You might like the Mississippi or Alberta neighborhoods. I doubt they will be any cheaper than SE but Mississippi at least is close to MAX. Good luck!
Ok, never mind, just read further down and I see you’re moving :)
Are you saying no one in Portland, Oregon, walks? Or Portland, Maine? Or are you moving to one of the above from a different city? If the first one, that’s not been my experience at all. Maybe more people ride bikes but there are plenty of walkers.
I do that too - my charity is targeted at the very rare cancer my SO is living with, so there’s a little self-interest involved.
The American Foundation for Suicide Prevention. Raising awareness, reducing stigma, educating, providing support to attempt survivors and loss survivors, and funding scientific research. It’s a personal thing to me because I lost a child to suicide. The more awareness and research and all of that, the better.
Aw, thanks!
I am in my late 50s and I want to hear every story about ass-kicking elders, especially if they are working. Because I’ll never be able (financially) to retire, haha. And I still feel 22 inside (though my back doesn’t). So thanks! And here’s hoping Ruehli lives to see Cosby’s ass off to prison and for LOTS of years…
Cosigning #2. I don’t drink but I enjoy boisterous dinner conversations with people who do, and I would love to have dinner with her.
Actually, my SO doesn’t like musicals and he LOVES Hamilton. So much so that he decided to try listening to other musicals to see if maybe he did like musicals after all. Nope.
I thought it was “starve a cold, feed a fever."
Macaroni penguins!
Once on This Island is the only musical I’ve ever seen on Broadway! I heard about it on NPR (lol) and when then FIL offered to take me and then husband to a Broadway show I insisted on that one. Glad I did. It was enchanting.
I have a feeling Larry David hangs out with a lot of soulless, pretentious, rich white people. Either that or he’s projecting his own feelings. Or trolling.
Or who’s getting their bangs cut back to their hairline...
