My rockers have rotted out (typical GMT-800), and the bottom of the driver’s door is crusty, but the other three (crew cab) aren’t bad.

Yeah, it’s all kinds of not good. The truck’s rocker panels have rotted away since you saw it. I’m going to have those redone by my favorite cheap body shop. I'll replace the trailer hitch before I tow again.

You really should. The hole on the left side wasn’t even visible. This giant chunk fell off, when I ever so gently poked it with a screwdriver.

Let me give you a little more data. Yesterday I climbed under my ‘06 Sierra to replace the rotted out rear bumper. What I found under there, were two giant holes in the trailer hitch. I have towed 4k pounds with this truck as recently as 7 weeks ago. This scared the crap out if me.

Sometimes those gambles come up snake-eyes.

My dad had one of those in the 80's, when it was new. It's neat, but it's no impact wrench that's for sure.

Holy crap that is cool! I'm definitely a tool nerd, but I have never heard of these. I will dream of finding one for cheap from here on out.

There are definitely advantages and disadvantages to both.  That big tail swings WAY out in tight turns, so that’s a factor too.  I think if a standard length van is enough room for you, that’s the best of them all.
