My parents and I all have different last names (I am a hyphenate). We’re no less of a family than any other.

Is this something you have experienced? Because I have a hyphenated last name, since my mom and dad kept theirs. As such, we all three have different names. None of the things you mention were ever an issue. One time when we were traveling internationally someone asked us if we were related, but it was a passing

I agree. I loathe my last name (it’s hyphenated. It’s a pain. I did not do it to myself; my parents gave it to me). When I got married, I contemplated changing it, because I hated it. I hadn’t published too many papers, so it probably wouldn’t have been a big deal, but when it came time I just couldn’t do it.

I hate this stupid tree. I’m so glad they don’t grow it in Los Angeles. But apparently some people can’t smell it?

As mentioned, I think the real issue is that all those schools are CA state schools, and it’s very difficult to get in from out of state. Most of them are already overenrolled, and both the UCs and Cal States guarantee admission to one of the campuses to qualified CA high school students.

I’m so bummed I can’t be there today. My first protest was a million mom march with my mom for mother’s day 20 years ago.

If we’re spending so much money on space, why did I spend my morning on the phone with my senators/representative asking them to give more money to NASA and not cut WFIRST?

I use the ratio in the booklet but don’t use the rice setting. I manually set it to 22 minutes.

It is pretty rough! I don’t know if your partner was on board, but mine wasn’t, and then the holidays/work stress happened so I haven’t gotten back to it. As I said, I did find that I was able to cheat (basically every Saturday, because social outings revolve around food) and still managed to lose weight (although

I’m loathe to make suggestions when it seems like you’ve tried many different things, but I also have a ridiculously slow metabolism, and the thing that worked for me was keto. I also have a pretty big sweet tooth, but I found that a small piece of dark chocolate with peanut butter was low enough carb not to kick me

Some of them are strangely cheap. Mimi Walters (not my rep, but the closest republican district) took ~$12K from the NRA. While I’m not at the level that I can just drop $15K, it’s actually not that much. I’ve idly wondered if I could crowdsource it and then donate it with the express condition that she pay me the

I do not know how regularly you get canker sores, but I used to get them quite a bit. Switching to a toothpaste that doesn’t have SLS basically got rid of them (maybe I get one every other year). I use Trader Joe’s mint toothpaste because it’s basically the only non-SLS toothpaste I could find that also has

I am not the original person, but I had something similar— my husband and I had been together 7.5 years when we got married, and the first 1.5 years were still really hard (we are still married). For us I think it was the fact that we had a lot of other transitions going on—I got a new job, we moved, we got married.

One of my friends grew up on a pig farm. He says that pigs actually aren’t that smart.

I used to be super-afraid of pressure cookers, but the instant pot is awesome. Not scary at all.

Although I hate game nights, I do enjoy trivia and murder mystery parties. I’ll probably see this, although maybe not in theatres if no one will go with me.

The blobfish is adorable! Don’t insult it like that.

I saw Coco this weekend, and yeah. I saw the “plot twist” coming from a mile away, but I was not expecting the detour to get there. It was dark.

My mom went to that one; I went to the one in Ann Arbor. I’m back in LA now and I’m super-excited to go with my mom this year.
