I’m trying to come up with a list of entities who deserve our righteous anger about this event. Here’s what I have so far.
1 every news organization in 2015-2016 who helped legitimize a destructive campaign
2 entities that are willing to make “a stand for democracy” or whatever now who didn’t bother in ‘16
3 Mitch

No you read it correctly, but The Atlantic made an error. They’ve since corrected it:

Please, for the sake of my soul, can you provide a citation for the Murkowski claim?

Republican Senator Lisa Murkowski has indicated that she will honor Justice Ginsburg’s wishes.  If a few other senators would be decent enough to go along with her, then Fuckface McConnell won’t be able to get his nominee through.

This is a huge punch in the gut. RBG was an absolute icon and her loss at any time would be devastating news.

DO NOT GIVE UP HOPE

Bring this up every time some asshole suggests voting for Jo Jorgensen. This is why voting 3rd in a presidential election is selfish and wasteful.

Fuck indeed, now imagine what's going to happen if the election results have to go to the Supreme Court for a decision like 2000. FUCK!

It’s not an equivalent scenario at all. The Republicans were able to block Garland’s nomination because they had a majority in the Senate. They still do. Mitch McConnell determines whether the Senate takes up a nomination and he has already said he has no intention of following his own (obviously bullshit) “no

I wish her rest, she’s earned it.

It figures. Just when things were looking up, Biden knocking that town hall out of the park, Trump melting down daily, and the polls starting to gain in Joe’s direction, this happens.

We can only hope that there are enough moderate Republican senators in competitive elections that don’t want to screw things up by siding with Trump & Co. that they drag their feet until it’s too late to jam another nominee through before Inauguration Day.

The Dems won’t have a say in the matter. After Neil Gorsuch the senate no longer needs 60 votes to seat a supreme court justice. The Republicans can do it with a simple majority.

Goddammit.  Remember, when somebody facetiously asks if this year could get any worse, remind them the answer to that question is an unqualified yes.  RIP, Justice, nobody fought harder and earned that rest more than you.

Merrick Garland

That’s my whole point. When a meaningful story’s author is revealed to have views that run counter to the messages of that story, the natural response is confusion about the dissonance.

That’s the most baffling thing about the sacred “bathroom” argument upon which TERFs plant their flag. Is there some sort of visual scanner on the ladies’ restroom that only lets in women? If so, i’ve never seen it before. I can’t imagine the serial thrill rapist* who is like, “oh man, I really wish I could go rape

Mine was Ray Bradbury. He was one of the main writers whose work I’d idolized and one of the biggest reasons was how humane and empathetic it always felt to me. He was the guy who bridged the gap for me from YA fiction to adult writings. And when he was on Politically Incorrect, he defended Bob Packwood sexually

Why indeed would she choose a pen name so close to this guy’s name?

She can market this new book to the same communities who banned Harry Potter back in the day.
