The fact you call the left lane the “hammer” lane suggests you might be a bigger part of the problem than you believe you are.

My dude, do you know how how hard it is to get a driver’s license in Germany? Meanwhile, here in the US we have cars with no front fascia, lights not working, driving around on 3 donuts. Are we prepared for 100 mph speed limits? ’Cause Freedom?
There isn’t anything “arbitrary” about speed limits. A group on a city’s or county’s commission doesn’t just sit at a meeting and go “Hey, let’s make some shit up to generate revenue.”
Or, more directly, would we have less assholes going crazy fast if we were just all allowed to go appropriately fast?
At 100MPH you’re massively decreasing your reaction times, cornering ability, braking ability and your car’s safety systems (airbags, crumple zones) ability to do their job, and also everyone else’s. It’s simply irresponsible.
You CANNOT cheat the laws of physics
Given that kinetic energy is 1/2 * mass * velocity^2, a scientifically determined safe speed is pretty low, ya dingus.
That’s partially true, but it is a lot more nuanced than that, and each jurisdiction has their own spin on things.
I design roads for a living. The posted speeds are based on science and are far from arbitrary.
Speed-related fatalities would certainly drop, because 95% of those people had an underlying condition anyway.
If everyone kept at least 4 seconds of distance, one could argue that speed limits above 85mph could be doable.
Seeing as how aggressively Americans like to tailgate, no thank you.
Am I alone in thinking that the current led lights on public safety vehicles are also dangerous? Any time I come up on a traffic stop or anything else at night I’m flat blinded.
Less test = fewer cases
Speeding-related accidents happen because people violate traffic laws and the laws of physics. There are not going to be less accidents if you give people one less set of laws to ignore.
Remember when Montana went to Reasonable and Prudent and had to go back from it because people went “oh you mean a speed that far outstrips my actual driving ability?”
That’s a good idea, especially since a lot of people seem incapable of wearing their masks over their noses! Droplets! Droplets and Aerosols everywhere!
I laughed when Trump called Biden “boring.” I can think of nothing I’d like better right now than a boring president running a boring administration!
She said “well I was watching the news and this doctor said that in about two weeks it’ll all be over with.”
This is the #1 reason why I’ve stopped reading the news. I’m going to vote, I’m going to help others vote. But I refuse to be a viewer in his personal reality TV show about taking down democracy and destabilizing the free world. It’s a small act of personal power.
This morning I woke up in a shitty mood, realizing that I had been reading about President Fuckwad’s comments about loser soldiers before falling to sleep. So again, I started my day thinking about Him, feeling angst and exhaustion. And then I remembered a time when the president and his antics were not on a loop…
Trump, in Oval Office, muses about taking out New York’s coronavirus numbers, says then the US death rate would be better.
