I heard this 10 years ago on Consumption Junction...

I have a neighbor that has 2 of these - one is a white Dakota Shelby convertible with a factory 318/5speed (one of only a few hundred made that way) and the other a red Dakota Shelby convertible 318/auto.

If you can turn a wrench, you can fix a Pantera. Although I voted NP, my 6'4" frame and 300 lb heft would prevent me from actually driving the damn thing.

My first thought was "Do these guys get paid overtime for all the weeks they spent in the mine? I mean, technically they were still at work"

What?

@Wrathernaut: The problem with that, however, is that the tarted-up Camrys that are the Avalon and the Lexus ES sell far better than the IS. While it'd be nice to have an adventurous company like Toyota in the 70s and Honda in the 80s, it doesn't make business sense. If they could create a niche market vehicle that

When I was 17, I had a friend selling his 1973 Super Beetle and offered it to me for a discounted price. I discussed it with my parents, because their name would have had gone on the title.

I had a Miura Matchbox when I was about six or so. I kept it in my pocket when playing with the other kids in town so I could pull it out and the other kids would say "um... what's a mweera?" and "oh that's so cool!"

@homeslice60148: ... I think Cadillac tried to do the same thing in the late 80s/early 90s to the same avail - and this one had a Pininfarina-designed and built body:

@2ndGearSuperhero: so what you're saying is that when automakers go full electric, internal combustion vehicles will be used for recreational and ceremonial purposes? like 60s muscle cars, 50s classics, and a lot of 70s japanese sports cars are now?

@Socialvegetable: "assuming I can find an unmolested one with low-ish mileage"

@fhrblig: I'm sure that it'd still be skewed, unless you count 2008-09 prius vs. tundra. But tacomas and tundras still outsell prii

All the people complaining about the lack of a wagon, let me ask you this: When was the last time you saw a focus wagon that didn't have some sort of fleet signage on the side?

I live in Charlotte, and I can believe the 3% listed - cops in Charlotte are tough on drunk drivers - they've been known to shut down a major thoroughfare for a checkpoint on Friday nights - most "celebrity trouble" here is DUI-related, and bars tend to serve as much as possible in as short a period of time because it

@danio3834: You won't see this the same way when someone sues you for a ridiculous amount of money and your insurance company pulls out their legal big guns to protect you.

@Tommy861: When I was working for a small insurance company, we had a guy in the claims office who would yell "SUBROGATION!" every time he got a claim that would be subrogated. He was kind of awesome.

Like many of the commentariat, I have to say go with agreed value coverage for a rare vehicle. It will cost more for comp and collision if you drive it regularly but it is definitely worth it when it comes down to it.

@Middleswine: I'd have to say that getting pissed off at the suicide really doesn't do anyone any good.

@Buickboy92: A friend has a 1950-something Vespa with the shifter in front — with a 450cc from a 70s Aprillia. It's insane and I wish I could find pictures.
