I’m following E90M3's lead, and looking at the specialty used dealers around for interesting stuff. It reminded me of automotive trolling that I would like to do. If I had the money, I would buy this:
So after finding out more about the Renegade’s common issues, it seems that the factory ignition coils on the 1.4T are pretty sketchy and tend to begin failing around 30-35k, but don’t misfire hard enough to trigger a CEL. What I found out was that a common upgrade is to put the BOSCH coils from the Alfa 4C on it.
Quickest, easiest oil change ever. I did it from start to finish in 20 minutes even after realizing I gave my socket set to my mom last summer. I had to use an IKEA adjustable wrench to pull the drain plug.
We are getting a dozen of these at work in the next two weeks. The guys just did 27 Explorers. CATS (Charlotte Area Transit System) is upgrading their vanpool from 2010 Express and Caravans to these and the Explorers.

CarsOfFortLangley’s Post got me thinking of something from my youth that has been a minor obsession for a while. When my dad’s dad died, he left us his 1981 VW Rabbit Diesel 4-speed. 4-door. It was a prize from a scratch-off in the Pennsylvania lottery, and he drove it for five years before he had a stroke and passed.…
Coworker has an e46 328i sedan, supposedly with a bad head gasket. It was given to him about a month ago. He drives it 30 miles in traffic even very day so it can’t be “too bad.” It’s clean and straight with minor interior wear and fewer body dings than you’d expect from a 15 year old BMW parked outside.
Tuesday and Wednesday I was in a 4th grade classroom for my teaching methods classes. During the 45-minute free write, I sat down with a kid who hates to free write.
This was what I had to deal with today. VZW customer service is good. But I had to go to UPS to get the package which contained the phone.
And my has been raided for supplies...
Someone at Honda saw my mention and liked my tweet...
I’m about to head into my first full day of Teaching Methods observation at a Title I elementary school.
First repair for the Cherokee since the initial run-through when my sister gave us the Jeep. $21 later we have hazards and turn signals.
The guys in the back did this one:
