I’d wager GM has a larger legal budget than most individuals.

Get that warmed over California the f out of here and give me the Roma all day.

Counter point, there are bullet proof vehicles.

So much this.  Class action lawsuits DO have their place, but in almost every single case they do NOTHING for the actual people in the suit.  MOST of the money goes to the attorney’s and the people get a pittance at best.

Counter Point: Nah, there’s no such thing as a bullet-proof vehicle. The Bolt has been gone over so deeply at this point that there’s probably no difference is any sort of ‘risk’ between it and any other BEV. Grab the money and get on with life; no fire-sale, pun intended, needed.

Practically speaking most fires are covered by a combination of auto and home insurance. So all that a person is giving up is the right to sue to recover any deductible or shortfall as a result of coverage caps.

As someone that has gone through two class action lawsuits, TAKE THE $6k. My first one was from Toyota on sudden acceleration. Got a check for $3.50. The second was for LG fridges. Got a check for $350 after proving the fridge ruined all my groceries 3 times.

Considering the chances of your Bolt catching fire at this point is slim to none I’d go ahead and sign the release and cash the check.

Jesus, your 1st gear take is...bad.

1) Difference between a supply and demand side recession.

There are income and price caps on the new credits too. A full breakdown is here:

I think you missed something...

Having the tax credit be available for only North American built EVs makes sense to me since we’re supposed to be helping (sort of) home team manufacturing, aren’t we? I suppose Canada and Mexico production being included was intended to help the big 2.5.

Schumer and Manchin made nice yesterday.

I think it’s a dickhole move on the part of Rivian. But massive layoffs after getting a new business up and running is normal.

Actually, the entire “the government to do something” doesn’t really apply in a post-crisis recession. Governments doing nothing is the right thing, because they are always reactive and not pro-active. In 10 years the social contract and the way the economy works will be very different than it was in 2019. The

If I’m remembering correctly (big if), they are mostly laying off engineering folks who were involved with the creating of the vehicles. Now that the R1S/T and Amazon Van are up and running, there’s not as much need for people in that role. They aren’t removing any employees who are actually in the factories making

Well... the elephant in the room is the GOP and Trumpism. During both eras you mentioned we had a functioning 2 party system. Now we have two completely dysfunctional parties with the GOP doing its damnedest to say no to literally everything the Democrats say and vice versa. The GOP has been infiltrated by literal

Youre taking their word that these layoffs are necessary. Rivian has lots of fucking money. But the VCs and primary shareholders want more money. Thats all this is.

The more that people say there is a recession the more it will become a recession. But.... recessions are a necessary evil. Stocks and real estate are overly inflated. At its peak 1200 sq foot houses were selling for 1.5 million around here in my part of California. Even highly paid tech workers were leaving in
