I don’t think Toyota can lecture me on EVs until they actually make a Prime for actual sale.

After a relatively hot last couple of years, EV sales have cooled off. A lot of American buyers don’t want them

When did Jalop get such a weird, albeit slight, anti EV stance?

Now playing

The Allante because it does nothing for me, though it is your car, so take that for what it is worth. The Boxster because too much work and you are a busy man and will never get to it. Quite frankly the rest got cooler and cooler as it went on, and you should keep them all.  If you are still short of time and space

I’ve wondered why I don’t see more of these on the road. On paper and in real life they look pretty good.

2015 Tesla S. I really wanted to love that thing, but the constant repair issues ruined it for me.

The more vehicles they sell, the more losses the company has.

I think this is one of the few times were comment section here actually matches market demand. Short range PHEVs are the best of available technology and would make the vast majority of drivers accustomed to all electric for their daily commutes. They would probably improve the general public’s knowledge on plug in

Does it, though? I imagine that $33K loss includes a large amount of fixed cost. Not sure how much, but I guess we will know if it’s possible to overcome within a few years.

How are they arriving at this number?

I was waiting for Jalopnik to how on this neg train and not even post the fact that Rivian sold AND produced a record number of vehicles. YTD its about 39k vehicles which is only 13k away from their yearly target of 52k vehicles. The WSJ has always had it out for Rivian for some weird ass reason.

The top 3 vehicles sold last year were the F-150, Silverado, and Ram. I think Rivian is designing a vehicle for the masses.

Their negative gross profit has been going down, but it is still pretty damn high. I think they can get there, but it won’t be easy.

Some of this is to be expected.. as you can’t come out the gate with a vehicle that is priced out of reach.. (not many are willing to dump 120K on an unproven vehicle, especially a truck)... But as production ramps up, the name becomes established, and positive reports keep coming in, they can actually raise prices

“Wells Fargo analyst”?

None of this should be a surprise. Rivian is a startup that only just began producing low-volume passenger vehicles. Not even legacy brands are profitable selling EV’s. Heck, many legacy brands can’t even make a profit on a vehicle that isn’t a body-on-frame truck. Now that Rivian is established and is becoming more

This will be an easy slideshow to make.

1) You may not need to add anything. A standard wall outlet will charge a car enough overnight for most people’s use. If you have a dryer outlet in a garage or similar, you’re golden.

2) As a landlord over a number of properties myself, I’ve told my tenants point blank that if any of them ever want a plug-in car, I’ll

The FRS is superior......
Right after you do an engine swap....

People are going to think I’m nuts for this one but the 5th generation 4Runner. After having a couple of 3rd gens I figured the current model in the Off-Road Premium trim would be a keeper. Sure it’s a great truck but I found it larger than it needs to be and so smooth that it seemed detached from the driving
