Because prices will not change, and the manufacturers will pocket the 7K extra on every EV sold.

My hesitation with that is if you give the money outright to a company, and they decide to add new and improved “service fees” to the MSRP or some sort of fee-laundering to make the EV’s cost the same.
... or, I dunno, raise the minimum wage and pay people livable wages?
Amazing the article even gives the time of day to Manchin.
I certainly can speak for everyone, but that 7,500 rebate was 100 percent the only reason I was able to get my hands on a 4xe. When you lease, it acts as a down payment, and in my case, made the payment cheap enough to where I was actually saving money over driving my gladiator. If that rebate wasnt there, I’d have…
How about instead of the consumer having to wait until it’s time to do their taxes to claim the credit, just give the credit straight to the manufacturer, and require they lop off that cost from the price of the vehicle? I know that’s wishful thinking at best, but having EVs be just straight-up cheaper out the door…

In before all of the slippery-slope arguments... I 100% agree. I know I would not like these solutions, but we definitely should have them and if new cars came with them I would deal. We all would. This is not an attack on your freedoms.
Any Subaru besides the BRZ and WRX are rolling traffic cones. I can tell from 1/4 mile away which car is gonna cause traffic problems.
Bro-dozers and Teslas. Two sides of the same douchey obnoxious coin.
The idea that Americans are lazy and soft, and America is going downhill because of it, has been a talking point on the political right for decades. Often there’s a subtext that it’s “other” Americans who are the problem, not the target audience of whoever’s doing the talking. “You guys are the good guys, it’s just…
