Agreed. That engine at redline screams. It’s anything but forgettable.
Honestly though, having driving all 4 (E36, E46 and owned 2, E92, and F80 M4), none are bad. Just different cars at different times. The F82 was super fast and fun to drive but lost some of feel and soul the older cars have. Just the way things work these days with electric power steering and sound insulation.
I graduated to the E46 from the E36 the first time I saw one in 2001 at the age of 22. It was a Laguna Seca blue with Cinnamon interior with factory 19's and SMG. Epic car at the time, I remember the guy who owned it lived down the road from my parents. He went through a string of epic cars over the years. The M3, 993…
I remember that issue!! I remember them making a comment about the steering feel being so good that you could feel a stack of quarters you ran over and tell how many were in the stack. lol.
