It's an escalator, stupid. You don't need to run up it.

Velazquez actually painted the king and queen in the mirror while making himself, the painter, one of the subjects. But it is very meta, and did show a shift in consciousness.
Sorry to jump on you but I'm writing my MA in Spanish Golden Age art. :)
Catvertising. It's happening.
The thing about Lohan is that she seems like a really nasty person. Her narcissism is beyond help.
Well, then, I'm telling you, as someone who works in academia, none of these things are unusual requests. Obviously, they could say no to all of them and keep the offer on the table. The fact that they didn't tells me a lot about how the university is run, and none of that information is good. It's true that my…
I suspect that part of the issue is the scarcity of tenure track academic jobs in comparison to the number of qualified candidates. As employers, institutions can afford to be picky. They offered the position to this woman, but there very well might have been another good candidate who came in second place on their…
Of course the tenure-track people would say that. They already won, so they imagine anything else. I'm with you....but today is a non-believing day.
My soul is readily available to any and all bidders if it means I can get a tenure track position and I can stop living in limbo. Being an adjunct is a unique post-recession purgatory.
What about those of us who are ABD? Do we get to model bracelets? AND ANXIETY?
EVERYONE GO HOME SEXISM IS OVER
Oh good, I was just reading an article on insidehighered.com about how there are no tenure-track jobs in academia anymore, and PhDs should be applying outside of academia. Thank god.

I love this movie. I really Love most of Lars Von Trier movies. I wish he wasn't such a dick.
I imagine it is rather difficult for Jared Leto to recognize acting, so I suppose I can forgive him his mistake.
Like when I'm saying "ow" it is not because I'm loving it oh-so-much.
We got a dog when I was 10, the shelter had a 24-hour hold policy, so after we picked out "Tinker" we went home and came back the following day. When we arrived an older couple was being told the dog was already adopted, it turned out they had fallen in love with him too just after we finished our paperwork, and…
This is awful, but I can completely see how it happened. The dog escaped the yard, as dogs often do. The dog ended up in rescue, the rescue thought she was a stray, and adopted her out. They never got the voicemail about her, and by the time they got the adoption application, she was already being adopted by a new…
