You’d be surprised. I’ve seen athletes very close to bonking and be able to finish strong because they got some food in their system. I’ve experienced it myself a number of times. This doesn’t apply to a 800m sprint or anything like that but for multi-hour events, absolutely.

I don’t disagree with your analysis and content but the headline and intro are misleading and lack context. I realize it’s click-bait but you are generally more cautious with that.

Hmmm. I haven’t bought them in a while. Too addictive. Maybe they changed the recipe or I was buying a different brand.

I’m going to ruin your day. Those suckers are 1g of fat per pretzel. I know that eating fat doesn’t cause you to be fat. I know that the point of food is to give your body calories, so low calorie snacks never made a lick of sense to me. I recognize not all fat and not all calories are created equally to a good level

My left hand used to go numb after about 40km of riding. I tried different saddles, different handlebars and many different professional fits including Retul. The thing that finally worked? Tire pressure. I, like many others, once believed that higher tire pressure = lower rolling resistance and I had my tires set at

No headphone jack would be a deal breaker for me and probably the majority of consumers. BT headphones are great until the battery dies. USB-C means having to buy new headphones or deal with some awkward adapter. There’s zero advantage to the consumer. “Extra bass” and “reverb” are like digital zoom and instagram

correlation does not equal causation

  1. Saves your phone’s battery, tremendously.

I’ve used an Edge 500 for more years than I can count through every possible lighting condition and an array of different sunglasses. I’ve never once not been able to see the data on the screen clearly and easily. The only time I’ve ever had any problem is when it’s dark outside and the backlight wasn’t on.

I typically respond with something like “My target salary for this position is XYZ”. If they really push back and want to know what I make right now, I tell them that my personal finances are about as relevant theirs are to the conversation.

30 seconds. That’s how long it took me to block the new ad format. Now if I could just stop olympics result spoilers.

Yes. I think it’s reasonable to say that. Your question seemed to ask two different things. first, why do records get broken so frequently in olympic swimming? second, why don’t olympic track and field get broken as often as olympic swimming? I was just trying to answer both.

A few reasons. The Olympics is the biggest stage for the sport and the athletes set their training plan years in advance to be at their absolute peak form. Also, the competition often pushes them even harder. And yes, fluid dynamics plays a much larger role in swimming than aerodynamics do in track.

Shouldn’t really make much difference to your neighbor. Streaming video is always going to be a bandwidth hog and the hardware is going to have a much bigger impact than a VPN.

Depends on the VPN you use. Most of them are pretty easy to turn on and off through software on your computer. Others can be installed directly on your router. BBC has seriously cracked down on VPNs this year and I’m finding a lot of IP addresses are blocked.

Better than NBC by far, but still far short of BBC’s coverage and commentary.

BBC and CBC have this.

BBC has seriously cracked down on VPNs this year. You can try but they’ve done a pretty thorough job blocking the IP addresses the most popular VPNs use.

depends on how much bacon you add.

I don’t think cheese can be classified as a vegetable by any stretch of the definition but you are still right.
