The SLS is being developed with the combined goals of being the main method of getting into space and reaching Mars in mind. Shuttles aren’t even designed to reach the Moon, and though we’ve sent landers to Mars, those missions were highly specialized. They’re trying to strike a difficult balance with the SLS.

I am much more in favor of just not allowing anyone to go to school or work if they forego vaccinations without a medical exemption. Foregoing vaccination is not just a risk to the person not vaccinated, it is also a risk for everyone around them.

Would you prefer he launched a big chunk of concrete/metal instead? To get certification, he had to launch a dummy payload which is usually concrete or metal, he simply chose a car instead.
