That's a style choice made by a large company; other companies in the same field may have different ones. In neither case is the populace obliged to conform to it.
As an example, people say "for he an I" instead of "for him and me", which is neither a typo or spelling mistake, yet incorrect and jarring nonetheless.
So the ignorance of some speakers of English is enough to remove improperly-used words from the language? Because everyone uses something wrong, and if we go along your proposed path, we might all have to regress to pointing and grunting.
Most every week, I make "whatever's in the fridge" soup. It usually comes out quite nice, with a little oomph from good quality bouillon cubes and fresh herbs. The result is, there's some good soup and the fridge is free of leftovers.
