I remember reading really good things about FF5 back in the 90s, so I guess I’m not surprised that it is a favorite among people who could play it at the time. In fact, I believe similar things have been said about FF2 and FF3 on NES.  It’s sad that we never got 2, 3, and 5 at the time.

And the improvements in audio were striking. Just comparing FF3 and FF4 with emulators you can easily tell how much better 4 is. The only strike against 4 is that the visual design was still very similar to the NES games, with all objects having the same square shape and size. I suspect that was just a matter of

It’s pretty telling that they didn’t feel the need to couch it in corporate-speak.

So the management of Embracer made some bad decisions, but only the rank-and-file employees that actually build valuable products are the ones to feel the impact. Can’t say I’m surprised.

Until I hear otherwise, my guess is that it was a coincidence. Mainly given Japan’s overall bad track record concerning LGBTQ people and related issues. And Capcom hasn’t been great in the past either, just look at the history of how Poison has been handled. Though who knows.

Yeah, I have firsthand experience at my job that too much of management only cares about “useful metrics” and not about what my team does or why it’s important/useful.

So knowing how to Google things makes me a stereotypical nerd? I suppose that’s better than being a racist like certain spiders in this thread.

Reminds me of the AI trained to play Sonic that found a bug in the game by going right hard enough, and exploited it to finish levels in minmal time. AI training stories like this are just continued evidence of Garbage In Garbage Out programming, with programmers not considering how singleminded AI will be.

The earliest known fish-person myths originate in the middle east, not europe. Try again. https://www.rmg.co.uk/stories/topics/what-mermaid#:~:text=One%20of%20the%20earliest%20mermaid,top%20half%20in%20human%20form.

It reminds me of some of the complaints for Mass Effect’s relationship stuff, though I think most of the rightwing BS at the time was more about the false claim that ME was somehow a sex simulator. Some people at the time complained about the gay options, but I can’t recall if the complaints were so overblown and sad

I hate to say it, but I fear you’re right that some studios might need to go under for certain people/companies in the industry to take notice. There’s a reason why single player games like Zelda and GOW sell tons, and it’s not just because they look good. A lot of people still want to play well-made single player

Similarly, I got burned out with vehicle building way back with Banjo Kazoo Nuts & Bolts, so I’ve been a bit wary with starting TotK.

A friend and I have recently been playing through HL2 again, and I have to disagree. The worst part of the game is the slog through Nova Prospekt. Lots of samey rooms, lots of deadends with no clear path forward, several uninteresting “guard the checkpoint” battles using near-useless gun turrets, constant combat with

Ryu getting a day job in an office makes me think of Casey Jones going “undercover”.

Nearly all of the reviews with a “0” score complained that they shouldn’t be forced to see gay women exist in the world of Horizon

I’m kind of reminded of the YouTube videos found years ago that had random rectangles, and I think also sounds. I recall that people assumed they were for testing or something.

I’m getting strong “Bonus-kun” vibes with those fridges.  https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Waku_Waku_7

$23 per hour is okay, though if he lived in Seattle (per his jail location) then yeah $23 per hour is way low. I kind of wonder if they’re working on the assumption that he made more money that wasn’t detected, though doubt it. I think the only point is that Nintendo wants to make an example of him.

Avengers: Infinity War almost started with a 45-minute invasion of Xandar showing Thanos retrieving the Power Stone, according to the characters’ creator, Jim Starlin. It probably would have been epic, but Marvel apparently ultimately scrapped footage for the ambitious prologue to save money and keep the movie under

Yeah, it makes me wonder if McElhenney wrote the character’s weird sex anecdotes and attitudes with any direct knowledge of Abraham’s behaviors.
