Ah, that’s right. Personally I don’t care about that, but clearly some people do.

Unfortunately platform-specific exclusives are just an industry standard practice, so I can’t fault them for it (as much as I usually dislike exclusives). That said, I like your alternative approach.
Third party exclusives are garbage
Ironically, for me if someone’s view is that they just dislike Epic and will avoid the service then that’s totally valid. However, trying to force that opinion on others or to sabotage the service or its games is not cool (as is happening with the Ooblets devs).
“The same threat was made today, followed up with ‘The threat is real.’”
I have a feeling that the people harassing the Ooblets team have concerns about “ethics in game development/publishing”.
In that case I wonder if it will be like The Matrix or Star Wars. I.e., it will be really popular with the people who don’t know the many things it’s based on, so they are experiencing the various ideas for the first time.
I like these articles for introducing me to random music that I wouldn’t have stumbled onto otherwise. For instance, a few of these songs I would later be introduced to by my brother who has much more adventurous musical tastes than me. However, in 1999 my exposure to music was mostly top-20 through work and whatever…
I just realized that your original post has at least two ways of reading it, and I think I picked the wrong one (I’m really tired today so I’m not thinking very clearly).
That’s my understanding as well, but I don’t really care about the money they made. My main point is that as a whole they are a series in name only after the series has evolved into something very different, and is now just paying lip service to its origins. It’s like if the Friday series somehow evolved into James…
I’m still way behind on reading (sure it’s comics, but I’m still way behind) so I’ll probably only play sparingly. Then again, after reading about the new Unity Daggerfall I might ruin my own plans and dump another dozen hours into it for the sake of nostalgia. It probably won’t be any worse than the weird random bugs…
From what I read in the article, I think a more apt equivalency would be:
From what I understand that’s probably true, but it’s mostly due to the difficult job market for many grad students, and less a failing of the topics of their theses. A game’s virtual environment can be essentially the same as any other simulated model that researchers sometimes create themselves for experimentation…
a spin-off in which the sort-of-bad guy from the fifth movie and the bad guy from the seventh team up to fight a cyborg super-soldier and save the world from a virus that liquefies internal organs?
That sounds about right. My recollection for most ES games is that the levels of your skills determine whether you hit, even if the cursor is right on your target.
Yeah, I’m aware that they intentionally designed it that way. However, in my opinion the way the system was implemented caused several problems, and in turn required the player to be careful about which skills they increased between levels, and also to always level up the moment it was possible.
This whole situation reminds me of Radio Shack and Circuit City, as well.
(though now that I’m thinking about it, I suspect that is the leveling system for Morrowind, so I’m not sure how it worked in Daggerfall)
It’s been a long time, but I believe that is essentially the case. I believe you can level up (and gain stat points) when you’ve leveled up skills by a total number of skill levels (I think 10). However, skills still go to max of 100, so eventually the skills associated with running and jumping will max out and you…
I’m curious if this updated Unity version keeps the broken ways to turn the game into a cake walk. The one I can recall off the top of my head is the one class ability to absorb magical damage as MP, then use only AOE magic spells, that way you absorb your own spells as MP (so you never run out of MP) and can…
