This is a problem in Paris too! We were warned that some of the restaurants in the square had no kitchen, the orders were sent out to a central kitchen and delivered through the back door then out to the customer.

What a maroon
Not all boomers - (is this a good time?).
When I worked at Oxford University Press, I used to run what I called a book rescue - every 4 months OUP had an employee sale for their remaindered books; any books not bought by us was ground up and sent to the landfill b/c their remaindered books would be stacked for sale on the NYC streets for a couple dollars less…
My brother-in-law’s nephew is the marketing guy for Crocs - apropos of absolutely nothing other than my brush with fame. My BIL says the stock is doing pretty damn well but that his nephew (who has a large collection of Crocs) has not sent him any samples - shrug.
Please! I am at loose ends since Rothfuss still hasn’t come out with book 3 of the Kingkiller Chronicles (it’s been an effing 9 year wait FFS). I would probably prefer if there were an SF or fantasy element though but I am willing to accept recommendations across all disciplines.
It has been 40 years since I hung out with a band named Ellipsis - I think ramekin just flowed like nippikinin my head; hell, I even got the bowl wrong! Congratulations on seeing past all that and recognizing the song anyway.
Every time I hear ‘ramekin’ I have to sing “and a small bowl” I can’t find the song but it goes through a list of drinking containers from the brewery through barrels to ‘ramekin and a small bowl’ - my google-fu is bad.
Same, same - I admired from afar a woman who really rocked the bald look; I used to see her almost daily and finally did something stupid - I told her that her head was perfect for the bald look...she responded “yes, I am lucky that way”. Sigh! I gotta keep my mouth shut.
OK Trumper
The first drink I ordered in a bar (I was 15) was a sloe gin fizz - I have no idea why or how I even heard of that drink, I still cringe when I think of it since this was in a rural, Montana bar.
Do upscale places know what a ‘well’ drink is (rather than ‘rail’)? would that get me the cheapest?
It is quite likely that even Neanderthals used bark and/or hide to boil water since water boils below the ignition point of either so carries off the excess heat.
Thanks for the chuckle.
