It all reminds me of a very good quote about racism:

It’s important, therefore, to know who the real enemy is, and to know the function, the very serious function of racism, which is distraction. It keeps you from doing your work. It keeps you explaining over and over again, your reason for being. Somebody says you have no language and so you spend 20 years proving

I just don’t get the absolutist tone of the piece.

    Oh. You’re a troll.

No, they rely on super not-racist means, like the totally racism-free Dawes rolls, right? C’mon, man.

    No.

Yeah, and she never did this:

I have experienced the world as a white woman in a multicultural society

It wasn’t “Cherokee criticisms” though - that’s manufactured.

Tribal leaders and Native people say the senator is an ally — and they support her look at her ancestry. But hardly anyone asked them.”

My beat is literally Native American issues

I would say Beyonce is a good example. Everyone love’s Bea. But

    Most celebrities are shitbags.

David Bowie groomed and statutorily raped a young teenager

It was never art if it was produced solely to make money.

Agreed the media coverage of this film is infuriating. All seemingly because Jolie is disliked? because the negative things being said all are ridiculous/blown out of proportion to the point of being ridiculous.

What does this site have against Jolie? I mean ok maybe you like her maybe you don’t but why tank a film like this out of animosity towards her?

No one is saying her English has to be perfect. People are saying that if a 2nd language that she practices every day for 21 years is that poor then her claims that she learned multiple languages over the course of a few months in her early 20s are very likely untrue. Just like her claim that she had a degree in

“I’d be interested how many of those commentators criticising her language skills speak other language than English at least on an intermediate level.”
