This is more in response to literary trends than the sort of epic stuff GoT aims at. Steampunk and urban fantasy have been popular for years now.

this sounds like a weak ripoff of the (wonderful) comic book series “Fables”
Yeah all of those actors started their careers decades ago when Asians were particularly en vogue. Not only that they were cast in explicitly Asian Roles. The roles that Chloe has had are non specific about race.
NEW YORK ISN’T NEW YOOOORK....oh man, this song has been stuck in my head for 3 days now. I always have a steady inner jukebox of 3-4 songs. I woke up and immediately I start singing this one. I have dogs, so I often leave the tv on the indie music channel. This song comes on often, so that’s where I picked it up…
As an ABC (American-born Chinese), I 100% believe it that her name change improved her chances of being chosen for a role. There is still a disturbing amount of racism aimed at Asians in the US.
You missed the killer line:
This makes me very interested in her breakup with Cara in a way I didn’t know I cared.
I love this song and have been listening to it a lot since it dropped. The video doesn’t match the vibe in my head at ALL. I love the colours and the stark images and the weirdness but it doesn’t work for me with this song. It may be the obvious choice but I want to see the title character in the video please.
It’s the Pumkin Spice Goths fault, I’m sure.
Max is the best and I have no idea how he’s dealt with Nev this long.
He was taking photos of 2 women kissing, wouldn’t stop, and one of them grabbed the camera strap so he punched her.
I dunno, I’m not sure about taking any kind of interpersonal advice from somebody that got expelled from college for punching someone. I’ve managed to go my whole life without punching someone, and I feel like it hasn’t been too hard to avoid, even when I’m miffed.
The fascinating thing is, reading past comment threads about this very issue, soooo many Jezebel readers would agree with the NY Times troll piece. The entire piece seems copy and pasted from this site’s community of commenters.
I think whoever is in charge should address it, in private, and explain to the intern that it’s best practice to dress business casual—and runner shorts don’t fit that description.
I really appreciate how you answered this so earnestly; like it was you and your DnD pals and OT that brought down Hollywood this summer.
She really trying to not film her double chin.
There was plenty that I wanted to go see, but I just didn’t have the time for more than Spiderman: Homecoming and Wonder Woman. I play D&D with two groups of people, and for awhile we were playing every weekend. That, on top of having to work every other Saturday, just ate into my movie going time.
