Was Kinja still allowing you to use Twitter as a log in? I changed mine to a burner Facebook account after Elon changed the API rules, assuming that Kinja wasn’t going to pay, and lo and behold the option to sign in through Twitter disappeared for me a few months later. I’ve been wondering what happened to the users

Ian McKellen’s love of the halflings’ leaf seems to have nearly transformed him into a hobbit himself in that header picture.

Oddly enough, the only named alternative I could see working reasonably well would have been Christopher Lee. I just don’t know how they would have made either Anthony Hopkins or Sean Connery fit the role.

I will, the next time I see him. But I suspect that like me, he’ll react with a “Huh?”

As a Florida native, I’m quite ashamed. I’m doing three lines of bath salts and tying two kites to my feet as we speak.

The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy says this about Elon Musk:

I don’t necessarily think that you’re either for the strike or you’re for Trump. Besides how bonkers reductive that sounds, it’s just very plainly and demonstrably untrue. I do however, generally subscribe to Jon Bois’s explanation of unions:

Say what you will about Burning Man, its existence is entirely justified in perpetuity due to the Malcolm in the Middle episode it inspired

I noted it in another thread, but there’s a troll struggling vainly to annoy a regular poster here and is spamming the same message dozens of times on different topics. It seems they’re being hidden (not just greyed) automatically by Kinja, and the comments section only counts ungreyed replies, while the regular

Yes, it’s one better.

I’m not so sure how much facts actually matter, but if they do, the fact that Gran Turismo’s opening Friday is a cumulative total of all its preview showings (of which there were several in the weeks prior, not to mention the normal Thursday showings) plus its normal Friday receipts means that it almost certainly

Does this mean I have to cancel my upcoming Welsh Weekend and Scottish Fortnight?

Only inasmuch as Americans mostly just vibe their way through language instead of actually learning it.

I can’t keep up with thus guy; I’m still stuck on the first planet Earth

Yeah, I just grabbed that number from the aether. I knew there were $10000+ tickets, but I assumed the cheap seats had a lower floor. It’s all moot for me, as I have to talk myself into paying more than $40 for tickets even for bands I really like. I wouldn’t pay $250 or $19,000 to see The Beatles, unless the time

So she’ll either crash and burn or eventually a new act will become more popular than her and she’ll fade away? That’s some real nice soothsaying there. Say, do you think you could tell me if the sun will set tonight?

By On Jove!

It seems like another consequence of American celebrity culture, which has gotten much worse in the last decade. The vast majority of her fans are completely normal. It’s not that unusual to drop $250 on a ticket to get see your favorite musician, and I understand Swift is a great performer, so that’s probably worth
