I can never unsee this. :-(

I lived in the SF Bay Area for a long time and people asked me at least once a week. I worked in a big office building and lots of elevator small talk started with what people did with their kids over the weekend. Then they’d ask me if I have kids, and when I respond “no” the follow up is always “When will you have

Pick 3 random places on a map (I like that dart idea up the thread) and do some research and pick one the one you think you’ll like.

I figure, if somebody asks me “why not?” after I say I’m not having kids, then they deserve the right answer, which is “I have a copper goalie in my cervix”

I haven’t thought about Arbor Drugs in soooo long! I used to go there to buy my wet n wild lipstick.

I’m trying! I’m bringing my husband, so that’s two votes moved from the west coast. I keep joking with my super radical activist friends that I’m doing the most activist thing anyone can do. They don’t like my jokes. :-|

Yeah, I don’t pay that now... I’ve lived in my place a long time. I’m sure the owner is thrilled I’m leaving.

I’m opting for moving to the deep red south east, and hopefully making a difference there. But, if anyone out there wants my studio apartment in the SF Bay, it’s yours for the low low price of $3,500 /month!

“he’s a friend of mine”

That was my thought too. I have a Saturn and it’s becoming harder and harder to find a place to get it looked at. Fortunately I live in a city where I don’t have to drive often. Unfortunately I’m moving to a city where I’ll need to drive. I’m hanging on to my car as long as I possibly can.

I’ve remained uncharacteristically stoic since the election. Seeing this list made me lose all of my eye water at once. Thanks for your post.

I’m with ya. I’m a knitter and have had over a dozen people ask me to make them a hat. I tell every person no, and to donate the $5 for the crappy yarn from Michaels to PP.

a pen and paper to do list is the only way I get anything done. People make fun of me for not putting my to do list on my phone, and it drives me crazy. My pen and paper to do list sits on my desk, judging me for not checking things off. It’s the only way things can get done.

I’ve found the same to be true with felt tip pens. People HATE them. I love them. Gimme back my pen!

It’s a smell thing for me! e-readers do not smell like a book. I was trying to explain to my husband last night while I was reading a giant ass book in bed. He was on his kindle and said my hand wouldn’t cramp if I had a kindle. Sure, but does it SMELL like my heavy ass paper book?

Fuck the Bay Area is packed and expensive! I’m leaving it soon enough, if anybody wants to spend $1,500 more for the apartment I’ve been living in for the last 5 years let me know!

Extra star for being a knitter!

We’ve had several fall in recent years up in the Bay Area. Especially after a huge rainstorm after no rain for months. Some naturalist friends told me that these trees aren’t native up here, the soil here and the root systems on the trees aren’t compatible and the next thing you know a tree is on your car, or worse

I make it a point to support local, or small business, artists too - but not everybody is an artist or maker and understands why that is important.

It’s great that they’re able to make it work, and that you’re willing to pay for their time! It just isn’t for me. I do occasionally make things when friends request and are willing to pay for my time... but it isn’t my main source of income.
