Well yeah, your car is probably tuned to take advantage of the higher octane fuel by adding timing,etc. And when you run lower octane you might get pre detonation and get timing pulled, thus lowering your hp. Some people have told me that higher octane gas burns cleaner so thats why they use it in their suburban......
