Sorry dude, but by your hair-splitting logic, a performance brand and your hipster definition of an “enthusiast” brand are mutually exclusive. A sub-300hp manual convertible in 2020 isn’t remotely focused on raw performance. A G80 with turbos and a DCG is all about performance.

There’s nowhere else to go. BMW isn’t operating in a vacuum. Merc and Audi aren’t any better. Every luxury-sport brand has gone “soft” and added turbos. Buy used, buy a Corvette, spend $150k+, or “settle” for a rad M240i/M2.
