Wouldn’t it be significantly cheaper to just buy commercial diesel/natural gas backup generators beforehand in preparation for just such a thing happening?
Would it make more sense to have emergency generators already in place for, say, an EMERGENCY? Most town halls I’ve seen have backup generators. And I would guess that an “emergency warming center” would be specifically meant to be used during power outages, so not having a backup generator is poor planning.
