I hadn't (and haven't) played Uncharted but was able to adapt pretty easily. The biggest quirk of the gunplay is never having any damn ammo or supplies. Even though it's not my preferred genre I could tell it wasn't a game meant to make memories on the combat system alone. It wasn't meant to be revolutionary in that

A little much FFVI nostalgia skewing? Good grief. Best cast yes, but this is ridiculous.

It leads to stuff like this... NOT MINE! Credit: Astro Monster @ NeoGAF

This is also official Microsoft material. Way to barely wear that helmet, Major Nelson!

Wait. How is that possible? With the number of souls vs deaths that would be some 40,000 souls lost per death. I admit I haven't played DS2 so I guess that kind of haul could be normal (somehow) but as a player of the first two games that simply doesn't sound possible. There's an extra zero added or missing somewhere.

Oh of course it's an DLC cash grab, but rarely is free bonus content handed out at the same time as paid bonus content. It just looks stupid.

Feeling different and looking different in both art style and presentation are entirely different things. Didn't say anything against the later. I'm not looking for or would expect a straight clone.

The modes are free but the maps are not, which makes absolutely no sense. Well, less sense than usual when it comes to add-on content. Either they shipped a full game or they didn't. Apparently they didn't or this would be all free or all paid DLC.

The Alpha Centauri comparisons can't be avoided. But the folks at Firaxis—most recently responsible for XCOM, a much different kind of sci-fi game—say they want Beyond Earth to feel different than that 90s classic.

Anyone doing anything this stupid who should know better as a person who professionally destroys electronics (or something) deserves to be publicly shamed. But thanks for posting the whole video. It does nothing but prove that the guy should already know better. Imagine if he was doing it as a demo for a small group.

Isn't the native resolution sub-HD, though? I mean of course it'll look better but it reads a little silly. Did Bluepoint cut enough effects to actually get the thing to run at 720p? That would be nothing short of a technological miracle given the X1 version is 792p. To others reading, no I don't know how they ended

This would have to be in the very, very early planning stages. The game is also expected later this year which will be well before the release of Morpheus (which has no date).

I'm not entirely dismissing Microsoft on this. I'd just rather they stand back, take a deep breath and think longer-term than simply matching a first-gen VR product from Sony.

That's just passively come up in the past few weeks, though. Sony has been working on Morpheus for 3 years already. That's a lot of ground to cover, but honestly I'd rather they take their time and do it right and not feel desperate to just leap in because they think it'll be good timing. Basically NOT do with Sony

Sony is (apparently) our only hope or the dream of VR entertainment is dead. I... I just can't even. See you in another 20 years when someone tries again!

The Opera House scene is up there for Best RPG Scene Ever.

Dammit. Now I feel compelled to teach my cats to do this. It's just too freaking adorable. One in particular has always been able to "see" flat-panel displays where the others ignore. Wonder how that triggers in a cat's brain...

It's been noted by some people that the discs might already have been packaged and they'll probably still be shipped as they are now.

Favorable for a simultaneous global release. It's really only been the US that's always done the Tuesday release thing. It's an outdated retail habit as old as dirt and global shipping logistics have improved to where it's not needed any more. That said, it'll still be around forever.

I wondered how something like this could have entirely off my radar, as in I'd never heard of its existence. Googled the game and saw that it's Techmo Koei bringing it over. Mystery solved.
