When I’m biking on the street I behave as if there’s always a car behind me, and if I need to move over or turn I look back, with my eyes, before doing so.

“listening for cars” should never be a replacement for visibility, that’s absurd. if you’re crossing an entry/exit/etc where a car could pop out and affect you negatively, you have to approach slowly and look around the corner. it’d be crazy to blow through it because you “can’t hear anything”
