I saw Showgirls a year or two after it came out, and like everybody else, was thoroughly unimpressed.  Now that I’m older, and acutely aware of how much satire Verhoeven injects into his movies (often to the point that audiences and critics miss it), I’ve wanted to give it another watch, and see if it’s another…

No question that Iris is in the right???  Barry was absolutely in the right.  I’ll grant you, he was his usual rash, unilateral self.  But Iris is deluded, short sighted, and selfish here for not considering Thawne’s involvement.

I watched Black Summer, and if you think that was realistic, you’re deluded.  

She was ordered by the court.  Maybe there are larger ethical questions about whether that was the correct decision.  But you don’t get to disobey a legal order without consequences.

Re: ship design - there have been plenty of little context clues and hints that the Union (and perhaps human “quantum” flight in general) is a relatively recent occurrence.  If that’s the case, that would explain why most of the ships have the same basic design, since they’re still all the same engineers.
