Until now, I had never been privvy to the “Madonna: Known Appropriator of Blackness” discourse before (mostly because I was never really that into her as an artist, or person - really I just liked her in A League of their Own), but I got a major vibe from that picture on the left, where she is cosplaying as Dr. Dre.

I could give a shit about her getting plastic surgery or “aging gracefully” (which feels weird to say). However, the look on the left, I’m getting a real “appropriating Dr. Dre” kind of vibe...

I think a lot of it also has to do with fewer young people (Gen Z, specifically) driving or owning cars - so it makes sense that a place where you can eat, drink, and play all under one roof would appeal to them.

Yeah... once I started learning about the roots of ska music pre-No Doubt (and their ilk in the mid-90s), it dawned on me that she was a bit exploitative to say the least. It only got worse when they ditched the horn section of the band and moved to... whatever their third album was.
