Random question I’ll pose here - is this really a video game adaptation as we normally use that term given how well-entrenched Pokemon is in other media now? I had even assumed it was first known as a cartoon until reading this article.

I agree -- and I think that recent Tomb Raider kinda gets there.
I just remembered that Olivia Colman is now an Oscar-winner and that cheered me up quite a bit
The El kid. A punk in any continuity.
In celebration of this new trailer, pussy’s half price for the next half hour.
One last time, for posterity’s sake.
True, but Starbuck being made female in the Battlestar Galactica reboot made a lot of dudes super mad. Maybe the trigger is when the gender is switched from a previously male character? Sisko and Janeway where new characters with no previous back story. Of course this doesn’t explain the whining about Discovery.…
Skyfall is like all the best parts of GoldenEye and The World Is Not Enough
Funny, I took a look to see what I could find in the rec.arts.startrek archives that still exist. One guy made a point of separating himself from the trolls of the future:
I recall a fair amount of pants pissing about Janeway. Not so much Sisko, though - the main criticism I saw surrounding his character introduction was that he got screwed over by only being a commander rather than a captain when first introduced.

You've never talked to a woman before, have you?
Dowd is a tough but fair reviewer. In contrast, one of the sister Kinja sites (the nerdy-woke one, as compared to the feminist-woke one or the news-woke one) wrote a breathless hagiography about Endgame that implied it was the cinematic equivalent of the Rapture. Which is what they also wrote about Infinity War, and…
Thor doesn’t drink tea.
He doesn’t drink tea.
“Not tea”.
Great to see a good moment on the list again. I hadn’t realized it until now, but the MCU has been very good with sidekicks, and Luis is a great example. He’s hilarious but also pretty competent as a fellow thief, and the storytelling is one of the best pure gags the MCU has done.
