Okay, here's my one question, do we know what the awful thing Elliott did to his father is? In the scene at the window his Dad said Elliott did this thing and gave away a secret (I think that's what he said) and that Elliott needed to forgive himself. Do we know what this is?

The abrupt jump cut is what made the final scene seem like it could be in Elliott's mind, it wasn't a smooth transition at all. So, yes, I had your thought as well.
