I’d say that plaformers are much easier to design as everything the player needs to worry about is in-front of them on the screen in one moment (usually) - adventure games this is not the case (usually).
Probably too difficult from a design, marketing and direction standpoint, rather than a technical standpoint (where it’s obviously freaking easy).

If you are an experienced, professional programmer (who is actually good at programming) then you’ll breeze through it easy and it will feel more like a connect-the-dots picture exercise than a puzzle game; but it’s worth a shot just to see if you are actually any good at programming.
That’s not how it works. You can’t copyright gameplay, it’s just not possible as it’s anti-competitive (If Nintendo had a copyright on platformers, then Sonic wouldn’t exist).
