Uber’s ultimate goal is no longer automation: https://www.wired.com/story/uber-gives-up-self-driving-dream/

At this point, Uber is more transparently than ever, just another venture capital backed ponzi scheme like a lot of other startups these days that have no real path to profitability other than “be the last one

Google can already do it, in fact the voice simulation they used for their autoreservation thing was too realistic so they had to make it sound more robotic.

Alot of people here don’t understand the difference between what Epic is doing and what Uber is doing.

You really don’t understand investing do you? Epic is taking a risk by investing in the Epic Game Store. No shit it’s not making money in the beginning, new business ventures rarely make money in the beginning.

The difference here is that Epic isn’t relying on venture capital to fund the EGS, but are spending their own money to do it. This is very different than the problem of WeWork, Uber, etc.

That’s the thing. Epic knows that Fortnite in the long run is going away so they’re using the money from it to bootstrap the Epic Game Store, which will be a much more reliable revenue stream. Epic also has a decent money stream from Unreal Engine.

I mean yes, they lost a lot of money but this doesn’t seem too dissimilar from what Microsoft did to get a foothold with the Xbox. They lost billions in the early aughts before they started turning a profit with the Xbox. Even then, there’s questions about whether or not the Xbox org has actually ever turned a real

The first one is an interesting sandbox shooter for its time. The game gives you open areas and how you approach levels can change the experience greatly. Once you get to the “mountain” the game becomes very linear and it’s... Fine. One of the main reasons the original Crysis was a stress test was because it was

In the case of car manufacturers, they actually gave up a bunch of their reserved capacity at chip fabs near the beginning of the pandemic then were surprised when demand skyrocketed because people don’t want to take public transit. Of course, since capacity is limited, once the car makers gave up their spots they

Considering the reason for the Windows operating system’s success has been its incredible backwards compatibility, this doesn’t surprise me. Microsoft has the institutional knowledge on how to really make backwards compatibility work, and it’s only gotten easier for them as the Xbox these days is more or less just

Have you played the AWE DLC? The “origin” of the Hiss and what the sequel is likely going to be about were heavily hinted in the DLC.

I have good news for you: Yoshi-P has explicitly stated that while FF16 will look good, they are not attempting to do anything crazy on the graphics side in order to focus on gameplay.

The problem is that it’s rare there is any other deal, there are a lot of people who will gladly write/draw for Marvel, DC, Wizards of the Coast, etc. so the corporations hold all the cards. It doesn’t help that fewer and fewer artists have leverage these days to negotiate any kind of back end payment deal.

Which is weird because generally speaking, most people who’ve played through the game (including myself) thought the main story quests and larger quests were well done. It’s just everything at the periphery of that is a bit of a mess.

IIRC the main writer behind ME1 and ME2, who didn’t work on ME3 has said the ending was originally going to be about dark matter/element zero destroying the galaxy. The Reapers were created to figure out how to stop it and part of that involves stopping advanced races from utilizing too much element zero, which acceler

It’s arguably better than stack ranking, which is what every major tech company uses even if they say they don’t stack rank (looking at you Microsoft).

I think FFXV is going to occupy the same space that Avengers: Age of Ultron occupies for the MCU. It does a lot of necessary things needed for the series to move forward but has massive issues that seem clearly caused by behind the scenes politics. They’re also similar in that Age of Ultron and FFXV both signaled a

Its unfortunate that Episode Ardyn and Episode Ignis spoil the end of the game as they are leagues above the other two DLCs in quality. The alternate ending for Episode Ignis is especially fun.

The worst part is, it actually makes it easier for scalpers to get products over legit customers because scalpers are the ones with tons of accounts, and thus get more entries.

They do, but it’s still a legitimate game on sale on Steam, so to not include it is weird :p
