From reading this review, it seems like the game’s accessibility will be a nightmare. Not surprising, just disappointing :(

Yeah, they completely redid Cid and Vincent’s backgrounds with respect to Shinra and it’s like, wtf?
I assume you haven’t found Cid or Vincent yet. They did both those two dirty in terms of what their backstories are and their relation to Shinra in this one.
Ok so you admit that the Quest 3 is cheaper and has inferior hardware/features outside of the fact it’s wireless? In other news, water is wet?
There are significant tradeoffs for wireless headsets, particularly around weight, response times, etc. because wireless headsets often have to have a bunch of processing on…
The price is actually pretty damned good given the hardware in the headset. The problem is they made it a PS5 exclusive accessory when it REALLY should’ve been considered a separate platform of sorts and released for the PS5, PC, and phones. They could still have PS5 exclusives, but they really needed (need?) the VR…
It also doesn’t help that Mass Effect 1 and 2 were allegedly written around Element Zero being integral to civilization but also accelerating the end of the galaxy. The Reapers did what they did to slow that down while trying to compute a way out of the problem. If I recall correctly, the original ending to Mass…
Is it actually an early ending? I don’t think anyone really expected anything less. If anything, the two season order should help fix some of the pacing issues from the first season.
The spread being lessened on those strategems is a buff/good thing. Despite being cool, they were nigh useless before due to the wide spread and limited blast radius of the shots.
You should give it a try then, it’s probably the best FF story of the past two decades and at this point you can play most of it solo if you’re so inclined as all the dungeons have AI companions and they’re working on making the trials (boss fights) have AI companions. The tradeoff is that the dungeons will take about…
Someone’s ignoring FFXIV in the story department :p
It’s got some similarities but it’s also very different from FFXVI.
Tales of Arise has a slow start, especially in the plot department, but it’s surprisingly good and earnest. It’s definitely got a bit of anime cheese, but I was surprised at the types of mature themes and issues that the story was tackling and handling well for the most part.
Ok, so what’s wrong with consistency in videogame UI design? It makes games more accessible. The more accessible a game is, the wider its potential audience.
It’s not an enterprise app, which makes it even more important because games have a much wider audience of varying backgrounds that is less invested in learning the intricacies of a new game. This is why cars, despite their varying designs, generally have consistent placement for all of their controls such as…
One of the core concepts of UI design is consistency. That means both within the UI itself and with industry standards. Yellow paint is ubiquitous because it’s the standard and players know what it means across games. Just like how red barrels = explosive, yet you don’t see gamers complaining about it.
Especially for We Sing, I wonder how much of that is intentional in the design. The game wants you to be confused at several points to mirror what the characters are feeling. It’s a delicate balance, though I definitely feel “We Sing” fell a bit too far on the side of confusing where it went into slightly unfun…
They needed to hide the light indicator until you can actually interact with the car because you can’t until you loop around one more time.
Correct, but we didn’t know what the narrative payoff was until the last hour, where said narrative payoff is: Look Zack is alive again and we’re in a multiverse! There are ways that they could’ve made the Whispers and some characters knowing the future work. Especially if they leaned into meta commentary on the…
I mean, the Whispers were weird, but I kinda liked them as a fourth wall commentary about the nature of remaking games. We also didn’t know what their payoff was until the last hour of the game. That payoff was part of the whole “going off the rails” thing.
Agreed, but I don’t think it will happen until part three.
