Pretty much all of his games have had to be rebuilt multiple times. Now, this is something that can happen as a normal part of development (ie. Red Dead Redemption 2) however, most of the time it’s not intentional and his projects often result in complete staff turnovers (vs 13, FF7 remake, etc.) He’s a good artist,

That would require Tetsuya Nomura to be good at directing projects. While yes, KH3 just released to much success his track record has been abysmal.

Actually, I’m more interested in what it will do with stylized graphics. That said, it definitely has applications for things like water, grass, etc.

The fun part is that this HD mod is actually only a fairly basic use of deep learning for computer graphics. Deep learning is going to revolutionize computer graphics in the same way that pixel shaders did.

The project had to be rebooted about a year back and during the process Tetsuya Nomura was kicked off of it. TLDR: He is not a good project manager.

Because of this game Tetsuya Nomura will still have a job at Square-Enix despite royally screwing up Final Fantasy XV and the FF7 remake and subsequently being removed from both projects. Sigh.

I didn’t miss that part, I was commentig on the metagame at high levels, and there we absolutely want every potential comp to have a counter comp, even if the counter is more situational. That said, the Mercy meets was such that if your team didn’t have a Mercy and the other did, you were at a significant disadvantage

Jeff Kaplan’s response is correct, but he also dodges the main issue: Blizzard’s slowness when it comes to responding to metas that form around obviously broken characters and abilities. For example, sure some people didn’t like dive, however lots absolutely hated that Mercy was an essential character for several

Yeah, there's a lot of issues with The Last Jedi, however the costumes are not one of them.

Protip: You can learn quite a bit by hanging at the Starbucks nearby. Though sadly the Barnes and Nobles one that all the Bungie employees visited closed, there’s a few others nearby for you to just sit around in.

Its interesting that Blizzard renamed the Battlet.net Client to the Blizzard Client right before all of this started gaining momentum. I suspect it was a power play on the part of some Blizzard executives to assert control. Unfortunately it seems Activision won out there.

Now playing

Steve Jobs captured what seems to be happening at Blizzard perfectly: It’s being taken over by “Tonerheads.”

I agree, the way they did the “low framerate” look was perfect and helped sell the movie, plus it wasn’t all 15 FPS, there’s tons of higher framerate elements in the shot.

This is all great, though for 2019 can we get more impromptu convention photography? What io9 did for San Diego Comicon was really awesome.

My take: While influential, Evangelion has not aged well and if you have to watch one anime from the 90s, Cowboy Bebop wins every time.

oof, sclera contacts are no joke. The costume is impressive but if he had those in for longer than an hour he’s an idiot. Safety first people :\

I am surprised you didn’t mention the Battle.net name change to Blizzard Client. Given everything that’s happened since, it’s clear the name change was a corporate power struggle between Blizzard and Activision, a power struggle that I’d guess Activision won.

And let’s be real here: Blizzard got incredibly lucky with Overwatch. It was a hail mary that worked out.

The main issue, is that Bethesda has a very unique team by videogame studio standards. It’s relatively small, grows slowly, and they don’t have very high churn. This means their art style has stayed relatively constant which is what I think most people have issues with. Realistically the only criticism I have is their

Well, if it’s the FFX-3 timeline the aeons are back ;)

Then again so is Sin and Tiidus and Yuna are broken up. The audioplay is weeeeird.
