This seems to be a list of posthumously released performances not the greatest posthumously released performances.

Hey, by the 5th day, you have a lot of experience, right!?

Soviet and Communist aren’t synonyms by a long shot.

I would say there’s a payoff. This might be subjective, but for me the Last of Us has managed to do what Game of Thrones never quite did. It manages to make the human drama feel real and important and dangerous, and then reminds you how meaningless it is in the face of something bigger.

Man, that Indiana Jones halftime should be more infamous. It’s like someone tried to make a parody, but went too far. Just the first 5 seconds and White man cast as ethnic person (but probably less problematic) slumps shoulders as soul leaves his body.

There came a point in Precious that all of the tragedies that she was struck with became too ridiculous to take seriously.

As an aside - what’s the Blues Brothers’ deal? The movie builds comedy around their deadpan Chicago accents and the juxtaposition of two gawky white guys with Aretha Franklin. But seeing Dan Aykroyd perform blues standards in a hat, whether it’s from 1996 or 1978, I just don’t get the premise.

I mean, if you only have space to read one thing, reading anything from Cormac McCarthy isn’t a bad pick

The Road is great, and I’ll die on the hill that it’s a far more hopeful story than people give it credit for. If you dug the movie, read the book. If you only have space for one, read the book.

I honestly thought this had already been done. Surely at least there’s been a bootleg or a fancut or a film school project before now?

Missed opportunity to title it “Reversible”

Huh. This is why movie criticism is still relevant and vital. I wasn’t particularly interested in seeing this as I’ve seen the original cut and I’m definitely in the “That was really good but never again” camp. But this review has me rethinking that stance.

Yeah, it’s a really impressive technical feat, considering the budget and the era (there’s a great making of featurette on it) but yeah, absolutely hideous. I’ve of course never seen anyone have their head disintegrated by a fire extinguisher irl, but I kinda feel like I have.

Going into this movie, I knew about the horrific rape scene, but I didn’t know about the shot of Pierre smashing the guy’s head in with a fire extinguisher. I’ve seen a lot of gruesome horror films, but that shot is the first time a movie has actually made me come close to vomiting. (IIRC, the first half of the movie

Loving this show so far, and don’t really have an issue with the formula of Charlie meeting a person who immediately gets bumped off. It’s just fun, intricate, satisfying television. I honestly wanted to applaud at the Benson reveal.

Even when “reviews” were still mostly that and less recaps, I wouldn’t read them much in advance simply because I knew I wouldn’t fully be able to appreciate them. Usually, if it’s something I’m interested in watching, I’ll scroll down to the grade and then come back and read thoroughly after watching.

I’m thinking a bit more Murder She Wrote, just because everywhere she goes, there is a murder.

Nailed it!  Major Incredible Hulk vibes with the whole protagonist constantly on the move, encountering and helping people along the way.  It’s a really effective pastiche of classic 70s drama.

The math is: Poker Face = 2/3 Columbo + 1/3 The Incredible Hulk.

Same! Ours was built in 1942. Man, that plaster in ours is hard. You have to use a masonry bit to drill into it.
