Black humorously he noted if he and his fellow carrying ex-military dudes had pursued/engaged the shooter they might have been mistaken for working with him, aka one of the “bad guys”. Imagine that!

Note: I am in no way defending either the letter writer or the responder from Uexpress. I think we can all agree they are both shitty people.

A wild Slepnir appears.

Great excerpt, left wanting more. If one is looking to pad out a noir fiction Amazon order (while buying this book), strongly recommend any of the big titles by Jim Cain, and definitely the Richard Beautigan sleeper sendup of the genre Dreaming of Babylon (1978). This last is a quick, must read for any gumshoe fans,

Hey, I might have mentioned funny armor but I never said to mess with them. They are still armored to withstand more than I and armed with sharp pointy things that are still deadly to my fleshy bits. That said, thanks for the advice.

Seriously, second this comment. This article totally opened my eyes to the guys in the funny armor. I mean, it makes sense that they keep up with the times, but I never realized to what extent. This was really interesting to read about!

That meant that one of the servers each day got assigned to cover the bar IN ADDITION TO their regular section. I got awesome at making mimosas, screwdrivers, and bloody

Pinkham’s Law for Caroline Akers: I broke this down in a brief comment discussion below, but ordering whiskey without a modifier is incomprehensible to the average human being. So, the bartender offered two exceedingly reasonable options (Beam and Walker). Furthermore, if you ordered “whiskey neat” from me, I’d be

I am a whiskey guy but what whiskey was he expecting to get? Whiskey is a generic term for fermented grain- I’d think a basic bourbon like Beam would be what I’d mention unless he asked for something specific. If anything, bourbon would be closer to a generic whiskey than scotch whiskey. What did I miss?
