They could have also just put the ICE in the front if they wanted electric power to the rear. Though either way, this does mean that if you happen to drive this hard enough to run the battery down, you’ll have a mid/rear engine FWD hypercar with 600hp. Which would be...interesting to say the least.

I’m confused about this too. I didn’t see a tank indicated anywhere, and it would certainly help with starts, and allow air pressure/flow to not be directly linked to engine rpm. Or if they didn’t want the weight and bulk of keeping a pressurized tank onboard, why not at least run the compressor off the battery rather

This is definitely possible, though it depends how much front trunk space Porsche would be willing to sacrifice. Any decent amount of electric range would still mean adding far more weight than a traditional AWD system would add. While a frunk full of batteries and motor theoretically sounds like a good way to

Considering the structural properties of machined parts from solid billet are different from cast and forged parts anyways, wouldn’t it be a lot easier and less wasteful to fabricate and weld together multiple smaller components instead? I’m sure this is less of an issue with metal recycling and modern CNC

Why don’t they put the 300hp version of this engine and the AWD system from the Countryman JCW into the Cooper? With damn near 1000lbs less to haul around and dimensions that don’t make “Mini” feel like an oxymoron, they could have made a Cooper JCW actually worth its pricetag.

TETSUOOO!!!!

I mean this is aftermarket, slapping on a supercharger and some other sporty bits from Ford’s parts catalog and selling something gaudy with a huge markup is pretty much Shelby’s shtick.

Yeah I really don’t buy the cost saving aspect people are trying to push with this stainless monstrosity. Stainless steel is vastly more expensive than plain steel per unit weight, and even without paint it’s still going to need some secondary processes to give it a nice even finish (brushing, blasting, polishing,

Tesla hasn’t invented the unibody design, nor are they the first to apply it to a pickup truck. And the metal’s thickness is only really adding back strength lost to having simple flat panels without the stamped/formed curves and creases that give strength to sheet metal bodies.

Stainless steel is highly resistant to rust and any rust that does form is usually in the form  of small spots that are only on the surface level. But to avoid visible corrosion (especially in a harsh environment) secondary processes like electropolishing/plating and passivation are required which further drive up the

What is this, 2009? Of course you can’t get a new Ferrari with a stick, because all the sticks have been used beating this dead horse.

A FWD hot hatch that expensive simply misses the point of a hot hatch. Crack Pipe.

Not quite the same, but the Porsche 911 has been slowly shifting from RR to MR over the past few gens. It’s still definitely rear engined (except one of the racecars) but the engine is now pretty much right between the rear wheels instead of slung out the back

So you want it to weigh twice as much so that it has enough battery to last more than a couple laps? No thanks.

I wonder how easy it would be to offer a manual version in the future. Should have been from launch, especially since BMW already offers this very engine with a manual in some of their cars.

Then it would have less torque.

It always felt odd that a $150k carbon fiber sports car (or supercar?) had a tiny turbo 3, closely related to what could be found under the hood of a base Mini Cooper. Sure it’s got a bigger turbo and the total output is pretty decent, but I don’t think it will really be missed if the new version is fully electric.

Not the pinnacle of sanity, for sure, but let’s just say if she were taken to court she wouldn’t be able to plead insanity...or even want to, for that matter. She’s not mad, I’m sure she had full control of her mental faculties. And she’s not a sadistic evil shit like Joffrey or Ramsey, nor a malicious schemer like

He’s always been basically Ned with plot armor. Honorable and honest to a fault, won’t lie to save his own life, but his head wasn’t unceremoniously removed from his shoulders and he couldn’t stay dead for more than a couple episodes.
