My last name gets misspelled and pronounced wrong a lot-both have three different versions. People who report to me mispronounce it often, but at least most of the time they spell it right.

That is absolutely the appeal of these articles. I look forward to them because they are well written, fun, harmless and I am reminded of some of the issues I had as a young guy trying to keep my various POS vehicles going.
I think it just locks power to the rear. A locked diff for normal driving in snow is a bad idea.
IIRC you have a Land cruiser?
A big difference is that in the 80's every other car on the road had the same level of roadworthiness as they did. Now almost everyone else on the road has at least abs so they’re going a lot faster and expect you to have the same stopping distance, traction control, etc.
Why do you have to center lock the diff to use rwd only, is it normally awd?
I use an infrared heat gun to check the temps of various parts. They are less than $15 and easily fit in a tool box.
The first thing I thought of was the Kia in the backyard too! Why waste a day with that when you have deadline on something else?
Towing the other Jeep could have easily been done IF he had started seriously working on this project when he got it in October. Instead, it was still sitting in his back yard in January and he had someone come and fix his trailer wiring the day before he was originally planning to leave. Wtf he knew he was going to…
So exposed belts are BETTER than winter tires!
Tire studs are made of steel and steel belts are made of steel, therefore visible steel belts = traction!
I was thinking the same thing.
I starred both of these posts because you are right on. This is the absolute base technology that any self driving vehicle should be based on. Starting with anything else is beyond stupid.
I agree. But he didn’t own it.
Exactly!!!
Holy crap is that a bunch of BS! There was almost no noticeable difference in the tire. The guy even says “I wish I could say it made a world of difference.”
I would give that tire shop all my business and send my friends there for the rest of my life if they didn’t that for me.
If I remember correctly, he didn’t state it would be a problem until after he was drafted and the rockets drafted him because their gm was assured by him and his college coach that he was all in for whatever it took to play in the NBA. Now if he had a change of heart after that’s ok, but own it.
On the bright side tightening it probably helped it break loose easier when you figured it out.
Anytime I see an interestingly car on Craigslist that has a CAI it’s an automatic no for me. Simply because I know too many people with zero knowledge of basic vehicle maintenance who have put a CAI on their car.
