Replacing every single vacuum hose is great advice. It’s super cheap and you can buy it by the spool and cut to length.

If he was to buy that, my advice would be to take everything he might need off Rustwood and junk it! Do not keep it around “for parts.”

Put those wires in some flexible conduit and zip tie them up so a passenger can’t rip them out with an errant foot. Also, as pointed out by another commenter, the connectors are garbage-use butt connectors with heat shrink.

My DD is boring but I love it. It’s a 2013 and its paid for, anonymous, and  totally reliable. It allows me to have a project truck and a few other not as reliable but fun vehicles.

One of the numerous beaters I had as a kid was a ‘72 impala that came with snow tires on the back. It would do incredible burnouts in summer with the snow tires. In winter I put a couple sand bags in the trunk and could go through anything. Win-win.
