[insert witty comeback here]

Fun fact if you don’t already know: Curtiss is also located in Birmingham, AL. I’m from that area originally and was totally caught off guard when I learned that Motus had gone out of business. I never felt like what they were doing was sustainable, but I was still shocked at their closing.

You must be fun at parties.

That really puts things in perspective.

I certainly haven’t been here since the beginning (which was before I could even drive!), but I have been reading for probably close to 10 years now. I wish it were under better circumstances, but it’s nice to see you back on the site.

Now playing

I didn’t dig through all of the comments to see if someone already shared, and I’m likely too late for this to ever be seen...but...

Hahaha. Isn’t that great? That was my favorite piece of research I did today.

I think that front overhang is just a little too much.

Haha yes...exactly!

Edit: I’ll go a bit further. The only car on sale under $100k that has more horsepower is the Challenger Hellcat Redeye (797hp). And the (rather large) difference here is that the Challenger is in no way meant to take corners. The GT500 is meant to compare with the Camaro ZL1 1LE meaning the two of them will be out

Psh...yeah. Only 760hp..? Might as well have bought a Prius!!11!1!!11!1!!

Owners are already painting them. We have a guy driving around town with blue ones... *rolls eyes*

Theyre already pretty widely used in off-road (construction, golf carts, ATV) applications. Just challenging to make them suitable for road use.

Incorrect.

As a Michelin engineer...thank you for this bit of actual thought.

Very good points. Thanks!

Yeah, I totally understand. I just wish that we could have maintained interesting design on mundane objects in the modern world rather than always saving a buck. I mean, just go look at the average bridge built 100 years ago versus the highway bridges we build today.

Oh I’m sure they did, especially over what they were making at the time. But now, you look at things like the bullet trains and drag coefficient is the only thing even being considered. The bullet trains arent terrible looking, but they’re not exactly stunning compared to those above.

I had to google all of that, but I’m pretty sure I agree...I think...

Being an engineer today, it’s just mind blowing to me that there was a time when the discussions for these things went:
