THANK YOU FOR THIS

“... people who live on the East Coast believe that their weather is EVERYONE’S weather.”

Adding ... io9 has some good recommendations ... last one I read was “The Devil’s Detective” by Simon Kurt Unsworth.

I read about 20 books a year. The Mrs. (who’s also a fairly prolific reader) is not particularly impressed with this. She once told me, “You think you’re so goddamn smart because you read so many books. Well, everything you read has to have ‘action’ in it, like spy stuff, mysteries, SF, etc. So don’t kid yourself that

“With my spear and magic helmet!”

I became a big Tomsula fan when he was quoted in Deadspin awhile back, talking about Aldon Smith:

“Antonio stood firm.” Nice.

Dang, beat me to it :)

I’ll add to this “also consider” list ... Yrsa Sigurdardottir’s series of Thora Gudmunsdottir novels (as well as several stand-alone novels) ... Kjell Eriksson’s Ann Lindell series ... and Asa Larsson’s Rebecka Martinsson novels. There’s also Leif G. W. Persson’s trilogy about events surrounding the assassination of

My absolute favorite genre. I tell my friends that Stieg Larsson’s books are just the “gateway drug” :)

And SDSU football has been getting better ... bet they’ll sell more tix next year to fill the void.

I’ve been to many Chargers games over the past 30 years, and was a season ticket holder for quite a few of those. When I would get to San Diego/Jack Murphy/Qualcomm Stadium, there would be a place to park my car. A seat for me to sit in. Places to buy food and beer, and restrooms to piss in. I could see the players

The Spanos family has seen that they can sell out games due in large part to the visiting team’s fan base. Once they’ve moved, people from Denver, Chicago, Cleveland, etc. will continue coming to Southern California to get away from winter weather for a weekend and watch their team. Plus so many people from here are

Eh, well, you gotta go back a ways ... I remember my dad telling me back in the 70s, “Kid, the Steelers weren’t always good, they sort of sucked shit for about 40 years.” He was exaggerating a bit, but see for yourself: http://www.pro-football-reference.com/teams/pit/

I could use those too. But I think we’ll be hard-pressed to find anyone who’ll sympathize with us :)

Do you need a hug?

For your consideration re: the fantasy team ... Chuck Muncie of the San Diego Chargers. Chris Berman once described him as having “a nose for the goal line.” https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chuck_Mun…

During the strike-shortened NFL season (1982?) of my youth, NBC and CBS showed CFL games to fill the space on Sunday. Pretty sure this experiment only lasted one weekend.

Holy. Sh!t. Hope everyone is physically (and mentally) OK at this point.

Yes, while not exactly “here be dragons” the western (Westeros-ian?) states are vast and unforgiving ... our once-yearly trip from San Diego to Montana involves 22 hours of driving with a hotel stop in Utah right in the middle.
