I LOVE this app. It’s really gotten me interested in birds!

Meaning: if your situation is that you’re in a wealthy school district, you’ll make expensive changes to ensure the safety of your students and staff but if you’re in a poor school district, you couldn’t even buy pencils before this so you’ll just kinda suck it up and die.
When we moved in together, I made a huge stink when I caught my boyfriend using soap on my priced vintage cast iron skillet. I insisted how you can’t use soap and he was going to destroy the seasoning, etc. Then I came around to this not really being true... but I haven’t brought myself to fessing up to it so... I…

I have two:
They do! Even local ones which I rarely visit. Re: the post cards, I try with all of my correspondence, to be in the habit of scanning (with my phone) and saving a letter or postcard before I send it. Doing so with the postcards lets me have a fun digital memory of the postcards too.
Me too! My favorite is to find a local shop selling art/design items from local artists and get postcards there. Finding stamps and a post office also ends up being a fun project an excuse to explore the city I’m visiting in a different way. It’s led me to a gorgeous post office in Prague, to a 6th floor post office…
I’d recommend to save money from souvenirs and spend that on experiences. I look back at the times I traveled while broke and bought crappy souvenirs (for me or for friends back home) that really ended up just being junk that collected dust. Photos ended up being much more significant in the end.
Yup! Though I’m more likely to schedule it for Friday afternoons so it doesn’t look like I snuck out early lol. I’ve actually found scheduled emails to be such a handy tool that people underutilized. For non-sinister purposes, I also have used it in the past to schedule emails to large groups to be delivered at times…
Schedule emails to go out at certain times so it looks like you are at your computer drafting and sending them now when really you wrote it yesterday and scheduled it to go out this afternoon while you are binging something.
I’ve started to do a two-phase approach to this. While traveling, when I get a minute, I try to quickly delete the “bad” photos (blurry, head cut off, boyfriend has a sneer, etc.) Then I wait about a week (or maybe even the flight back) to go through and purge (“curate”) down to the essentials. I like waiting a few…
While this is great news, the reality is that I most definitely will regularly eat 16-30% of a larger serving of nuts than I think I am so... I imagine it will balance out.
I read a book a few years ago called Complicity: How the North Promoted, Prolonged, and Profited From Slavery that I really enjoyed for it’s effort to remind us white northerners that in the antebellum United States you didn’t have to actually own a slave to still be a part of the system that enslaved them. It is a…
My favorite sinking funds are 1) a travel home fund since I live across the country from my family and this lets me not feel guilty about flying back outside holidays because I’ve specifically earmarked funds for it and 2) a homeowners insurance deductible fund because I elected to have a larger deductible in exchange…
Disney+ embiggened our hearts but the launch was pretty cromulent.
I think reading that City Bakery had closed down was the first time I had actually gasped audibly while reading the news...
I’ve never lost respect for someone as quickly as when I found out they flew from DC to Connecticut vs. taking Amtrak. They were like “well, I’ve never taken the train.” So instead they, spent an hour to get to the airport, went through security, sat at the gate for an hour or so, took a 90 minute flight, got a rental…
There is always (for now) a need for cables... but I’ve found that I go through so many fewer cables now that I have a wireless charging pad next to my bed and at my desk. It’s a future I’m really looking forward to as the fail-rate seems likely to be much lower than with cables!
Nothing as exciting as the other posts, but, back when I was reading paper books, I always found that using a dollar as a bookmark was a great deal. It is the perfect size and shape for a bookmark and cost less than any bookmark you would actually buy.
For some reason, I always balked at the iPhone leather cases (maybe the price, maybe some internal resistance to buying a case from Apple?) but, mostly due to a lack of time to get anything else before a trip, I bought one last year and fell in love with it. $50 was more than I usually spend on a case, but it looks…

I 100% make a point to use all of mine. One thing I noticed was that I had a very different experience when my employer had a firm “use it or lose it by the end of the year” policy vs. a more relaxed “you can roll up to 15 days forward to the next year” policy. The stricter policy trained me to use them all each year…
