My favorite use for this is to stick an NFC sticker on the inside of the dust jacket or binding of a book on the bookshelf I pass on my way to bed. I tap my phone on just the right book and trigger the appropriate lights to go off downstairs and to go on upstairs and in the bedroom, etc.

I’ll say what many others are surely thinking: The only reason I haven’t cancelled Netflix already is because my parents use my account. Take that away and I’m really struggling to justifying $7-20 a month on it... at least year round.

While in Budapest a few years ago, I was happy to have the same experience. Quick and convenient, plus, I liked being able to leave my credit cards in the hotel and be confident I could use my phone to get me through the day.

My tip is to spend it on items you need anyway. In this situation driving home from Canada, I’ve stopped at a Canadian Walmart and spend remaining cash on things like socks and paper towels. If you’re flying back, you need to be concerned about what you can fit in your luggage of course, but you’ll eventually need

If only 2nd Amendment crusaders would put the same energy into defending the other amendments.

If everyone would collect their small, individual items (passport, wallet, keys, headphones, belt -if you need to remove it-, phone, etc.) and put into their bag/satchel/purse/carry-on before they get to their turn at the security scan, everything would move SO much quicker.

Obviously, we need to stick with the tried and true method of only selecting Supreme Court justices from the pool of ~13,000 Yale Law School alumni or ~38,000 Harvard Law School alumni. Instead of limiting us to the 6% of the US population Ted Cruz is concerned with, we can keep on pulling from the same well-connected

Yup! All joking aside, now that I’m a grown man in my own home, there are quite a few things that I do that make me reflect on the fact that my midwestern father actually said “I love you” more than I realized. Never out loud, of course, but through things like clearing off my car, driving to pick me up somewhere

Don’t you find that you get a bunch of grinds stuck in the pot? That’s my problem. Dumping them is a solution (outside or in the trash) but I just found it was a hassle to get the rest out. Maybe I’m just being difficult because, typing this, it doesn’t seem like it should be that much of a struggle lol.

I’ll probably never know whether my views on PDA are a part of my natural personality vs. growing up gay in the time and place I did. I smile at the thought that younger generations won’t experience that and promise, in part because of that, to do my best to not be that old man grumbling about “kids these days with

Yes, you’ll get a “watch out for deer” when leaving and, perhaps someone shoved the sidewalk and steps after it snowed. That’s all the “I love you” you’re going to get lol.

Agreed! I bought a stainless steel insulated French press to use camping (because it makes things so simple!) and once I realized how great the insulation was, I’m loathe to go back to glass for home use.

I loved everything about French Press except for cleaning them out. I found it was always a mess and I’d end up clogging my sink. If anyone has any suggestions for making that an easier process I’d welcome them. Until then, I transitioned to a pour over and, while it is always cited as a method requiring precision and

After years of downsizing books, we moved into a house with a room full of built-in shelves. I actually sought out a set of old encyclopedias (that I snagged for like $20) and have enjoyed picking up old encyclopedias and reference books from used bookshelves. My philosophy is that 1) they look beautiful if you have

Right? I’ve tried to figure that out as well. A lifehacker article on this would be interesting. One thing I saw when I tried to Google this is that self-employed people can potentially “match” or contribute what they want (within these limits) so maybe the max contribution is with those people in mind? Certainly no

I believe the maximum total includes any employer contributions. You, the individual, can contribute up to $20,500 but that doesn’t include an employer match or their contribution. Whatever they put into your 401k can’t, when added to your $20,500, exceed $61,000. That’s how I understand it anyway.

If you live in a state that requires an attorney when buying/selling a home, check to see if that is covered if you are looking to buy or sell. Attorney fees for this were covered in the legal plan offered at work for me and it more than paid for itself this year.

6.5 years. That’s how long it took me to realize that my husband had been regularly cleaning our dishwasher while I just assumed it took care of itself. Only came out on a recent trip to Home Depot. Whoops.

I started using wireless charging whenever possible after I found myself going through too many cables. Cheap cables, expensive “will last forever” cables. Maybe I’m just a bad phone user but they would fail too often, look unseemly, and it’s easier to just use wireless and not worry about it.

While these points are all valid, in my experience, the only times I’ve been in a position where I feel stranded and unable to charge my phone are instances where something went wrong with my cable. I’m thinking of investing in a backup batter with wireless charging for this very reason.
