Are there really that many houses left in Florda that haven’t been built to higher hurricane standards? I don’t see any joist reinforcements, tie-downs, anchors or other things that I would have thought would be standard building/construction code code requirements for at least 20+ years.

I put myself through college as a grocery checker, back in the day when we had a union and had to do stuff like memorize produce codes and had scanning time quotas and bonuses. I prefer self-checkout because I’m faster and more accurate and I actually pay attention when that buy 2/get 1 free promotion isn’t applied.
