I LOVE me some Vegeta! I have to go across town to an Eastern European market to get it. Then I stock up. It’s great to season butterbeans as they gently simmer.

The one kitchen tool I was very surprised about is a julienne peeler - I guess that’s what you call it. It makes vegetable shreds. I bought it at a thrift store and I use it all the time as a lazy way to add vegetables to salads.
The name isn’t even a good one for their product. It has no brand tie-in. A few I thought of: Quick Post, Post to Go, Post Fix, Cool Post...
I’m so sorry you experienced that. We all deserve moms who are supportive and loving and unfortunately sometimes we don’t get that. I haven’t been a perfect mom, but I think I’ve been the mom who tries and works hard to be better and looks for ways to be helpful and supportive. My own mother was a great example. Not…
As someone whose pregnancy and delivery and breastfeeding (two kids) was relatively easy, it’s been very difficult to watch my adult daughter struggle through her pregnancy, c-section and now breastfeeding. Quite an eye opener! Of course, I’ve been supporting her and her decisions every step of the way. But DAMN it’s…
Best tip - order your pizza “well done.” It will stand up to being jostled, delayed, delivered and reheated the next day without getting soggy. And if it arrives hot and on time, you miss out on the undercooked middle.
We don’t have access to the “good” feta (even at our various markets), but a reasonable option and widely available is Vigo - sheep’s milk in brine. Oddly, in our grocery store it’s placed with the ordinary cheeses (like shreds and blocks) instead of in the gourmet cheese section where they house the substandard feta.
I am an unfailingly polite person. I used to work customer service at a front desk. There was a woman who had been difficult before but this time went over the edge. I was still polite and trying to help her and she would not be helped. A fully pregnant co-worker came from the back and said, “You don’t talk to Miss…
Ohhhh...you mean a buggy!
We recently moved to a home with an electric stove. I thought that would be a deal breaker for me, but we loved the house - a small Victorian with original wood floors, a wrap around front porch, up on a hill, across from a local market, and at a great price. You know what I discovered? If you can cook, you can cook…
Man, I would love a drive-thru Middle Eastern restaurant. There are so many vegetarian options.
Oh wow...I loved The Electric Company! Our toddler granddaughter (and her parents) are with us for the next few months, in from Australia. Our routine is to eat dinner, she gets a bath and then she gets to climb up into Gma’s bed along with our dog snuggling in and watch something. We’ll give this show a go!
I get ya. There’s one place in town that’s notoriously dark. It creeps me out because it’s also kind of a tourist trap and I’m not to certain about their cleaning standards. Seems like really dim lighting could allow for a lot of grime to build up.
I don’t mean restaurants should be dark - just that the lighting should be warm and cozy feeling, not cool and bright like a cafeteria.
Hint: it’s lighting. I can’t tell you how many restaurants in our town have closed down because NO ONE wants sit down to eat under bright lights. Close second is loud music.
Some people can inhabit jeans and zippered pants! I envy you. I can’t handle feeling constricted around my stomach. Right now I’m wearing black joggers and a band tee and a jean jacket.
I got rid of any pants that have zippers. I’m just not doing it anymore. Dresses are our friends. Leggings are our friends. Tunics are our friends.
I’m Southern from as far back as anyone can trace. But I don’t eat meat. And my husband doesn’t eat meat often. I was peeved because not EVERY single dish needs a fistfuls of meat in it. It’s too much. The sides are supposed to round out a meal, not become a meal in themselves.
That sounds delightful! I might binge a few seasons this weekend. Hope everyone has an amazing day tomorrow. Here at the Victory house, most of us have COVID. I’m the only one who hasn’t had it before so I’m feeling the worst. (Yes, we are all vaccinated.) Gonna miss my granddaughter’s first Christmas, and we had a…
I think a lot of companies jumped on the gluten free bandwagon assuming it was a fad, forgetting that for some people gluten free foods are a necessity.
