Mine will be witnessed tomorrow at a family (not my favorite family members anyway) gathering where there’s meat in EVERYTHING! No joke. Meat in the beans, meat in the potato salad, meat in the green beens. For fuck’s sake. I’d skip this if I could. Which means I have to prepare a meal for myself and enough to share

I don’t understand the fixation on an island. If your kitchen is laid out to fit an island, then have an island. If your kitchen functions without one, you don’t need one.

I grew up with Blue Plate (back when the stores only carried one mayonnaise brand or maybe two), so I’ve always preferred it. But, honestly, I’ll settle for Duke’s or Hellmann’s as well. Kraft? Get outta here! I also love Kewpie. It’s expensive though and I have to travel to the Asian market to get it.

This time of year I go to my local Mediterranan market and pick up tins of their imported (from their family farm) Greek olive oil. Supports a local business and I have a present on hand. For instance - TODAY, friends of ours came in from out of town quite suddenly and they brought a whole Filpino meal for us to eat

Carry on, Sir!

Buy a cheese ball and crackers for an appetizer. Buy a glazed, sliced ham (of whatever size you need) and follow the directions. Or get a rotisserie chicken. Boil some little potatoes, then butter and season them or mash them if you like - or instant mashed potatoes. Steam fresh green beans according to package

This is really mind boggling given that L&D has to be the most gratifying nursing field. Not to say it isn’t stressful and doesn’t come with its own challenges - I mean, as compared to caring for sick and dying patients.

Bingo.

Black salt (smells like sulfur) is a good addition too - if you have it.

I think she’s lying about wearing a white embroidered dress and a purples shawl and that she doesn’t need a blanket to stave off the afternoon chill because it’s really really hot where she is.

Representative? Honestly, we can’t get a Democrat elected in this area so I’ve just stopped paying attention to our DC folks for the most part, except actively voting. Unless some parasite attacks assholes only, we’ll be red for the foreseeable future. (We are lucky enough to live in an area of town that’s more

I don’t pray, but I will pray that The Lord comes for Matt Gaetz in the same way. He’s our “senator” and he’s just a gross, famedick whose family has money. It’s so red here that a dog with an (R) beside its name would get elected - and probably do a better job.

I left mine to thaw for three full days in the fridge and it was still partially frozen the day of. I put it in the roasting pan, covered it in foil and hoped for the best. It did take a lot longer than anticipated - but I had already suspected that would be the case given the “partially frozen” thing. It came out

My son LOVED Rescuers Down Under. He (we) watched it over and over again. As an adult, he sailed across the Pacific and settled in...Australia. I prefer the original Rescuers. We call all dragonflies “Evinrude.”

I can’t speak for the entire South, but I don’t think they grow well here? Sweet potatoes, turnips and rutabagas are the root vegetables that grow best - at least at the farms my grandparents owned. We didn’t eat many carrots either. Before exports from other states and countries, I guess peoples diets were set (and

I’m using my cornbread dressing as part of a crabmeat stuffing for portobello mushrooms.

I found those a few weeks ago. Went back a week or so later and they didn’t have them. Boo! We just eat them cold. You still get the crunch from the sugar crystals, even if you miss out on the brulee experience. Instant gratification always wins out with me though.

We live across the street from a neighborhood Publix. Our favorite night before Thanksgiving activity is sitting on on front porch, up on a little hill, watching people try to find a parking place. Cat bird seat indeed. The street gets crowded with dicey street parking and a lot of bustle but it’s entertaining anyway.

Boursin is BOGO at Publix this week, starting today. But, alas, the Southerners I know don’t eat mashed potatoes at Thanksgiving. I make mashed potatoes several times a month, not for a special occasion meal, so I’ll pick up some Boursin for the next time I make them. I also use Boursin for frittatas and scrambled

I hate to say I splurged and bought the Popeye’s turkey. (I justified it by thinking it’s cheaper than paying for a restaurant meal for four.) I don’t eat meat and my daughter is only five days postpartum from a c-section, so we’re trying to make things as easy as possible and my husband, daughter and SIL were excited
