It doesn’t feel like dysfunction, it IS dysfunction. Forget the in vs out of office thing - you have a management structure that actively blocks going over your immediate manager’s head for any reason. That’s unsustainable and broken for so many reasons that have nothing to do with remote work.

But that’s kind of the point - a movie and a game are different beasts. A game that’s not fun because it’s unbalanced doesn’t magically become fun because the movie was good.
