It makes zero sense. The supercharger network is a valuable asset to Tesla, and one of the few selling points for Tesla cars in the current EV market. This isn’t a painful but necessary decision, it’s just Elon throwing a tantrum.

Jack Welch was smart enough to cook the books well enough that nobody had the guts to look at them until he (and his looted money) were long gone. He was also riding on the sterling reputation of GE as a company. Elon doesn’t have those smarts, and Tesla was never regarded as a solid can’t-fail market leading company.
