Blackpink are successful enough to make money, but obviously not as much as they should. It depends, but their agency, YG Entertainment - despite embroiled in controversy - is the 2nd biggest company in the country. Essentially, they have a head-start.

I don’t keep up with everything but it’s still uncommon, at least for the few groups I keep up with (BTS, Twice, IU, SNSD, Shinee, Red Velvet, etc.).
